Websites of Interest
NADOI: National Association of Dog Obedience Instructors. The oldest and best respected organization. Requires a stringent test just for membership.
IACP: International Association of Canine professionals. Another excellent organization.
Leerburg Kennel: look up their website. It is a virtual plethora of information on dog training. The ‘articles” section is worth the read.
Doggie Do Right, Ami Moore: Outstanding website for a trainer in Chicago. Also worth the read.
Dog Trainer’s Workshop: A South Carolina dog training and boarding kennel, I have been personal friends with Connie and Brian for over 20 years. Connie is an international speaker and instructor and is one of the most accomplished and respected dog trainers in the USA today.

Both Kass Goulding and Andrea Holsinger have both had the good fortune to be instructed by Mike Lardy.
American Kennel Club: a great website for many things but check out the Canine Good Citizens section. It is a goal worth working towards.

Great Dog Books
“Handbook of Applied Dog Behavior and Training, Vol Two, Etiology and Assessment of Behavior Problems” by Steven R. Lindsay
“How To Be Your Dogs Best Friend” by The Monks of New Skete
“Good Owners, Great Dogs” by Brian Kilcommons ( all of his books are excellent)
“Adam’s Task” by Vicki Hearn ( all of her books are excellent)
“Gaining Momentum” by Kass Goulding. Fantastic book for a person who wishes to train a hunting retriever and competitive hunt test dog.
“The Dog Listener” by Jan Fennel. I am not convinced that all dogs can be fixed with her methods, however her approach to management and the attitude one should take with their dog could not be better. I recommend the book on that basis alone.
“Feeling Outnumbered? How to Manage and Enjoy Your Multi-Dog Household” by Karen B. London, Ph.D. and Patricia B. McConnell, Ph.D.
“Dog Owner’s Home Veterinary Handbook” by Delbert G. Carlson, DVM and James M. Griffin, MD
“Help for Your Shy Dog” by Deborah Wood Excellent book for scared dogs!
